GEORGIA ON MY MIND
Words by Stuart Gorell Music: by Hoagy Carmichael
-------------------------------------------
F A7 Dm Gm7 Ef9
Georgia, Georgia, the whole day through
       F/Abass Afdim Gm7 C13 Bf13 Am7 D7-9
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia on my mind,
Gm7 C7(+5-9)
Georgia on my mind.
F A7 Dm Gm7
Georgia, Georgia, a song of you
Ef9 F/Abass Afdim Gm7 C7 F6
Comes as sweet and clear as moonlight through the pines.
Ef9......F...A7-9

Dm Gm6/dbass Dm Bf7
Other arms reach out to me,
Dm Gm6/dbass Dm G7
Other eyes smile tenderly,
Dm Gm6/Dbass D7/F#bass Afdim
Still in peaceful dreams I see,
    Am7 Efdim G9 C7-9
The road leads back to you.
F Ef9 Dm Gm7
Georgia, Georgia, no peace I find,
        F/Abass Afdim Gm6
Just an old sweet song keeps Georgia
C7 F Ef9 F6
on my mind.

Here's what I came up with in the key of D. I could work on easier chord
shapes in F, but isn't that out of your vocal range? I've tried to keep
the bluesy feel of all those altered and extended chords the same
(or nearly so). I know there are several barre chords and you're not
comfortable with them, but they are necessary to keep the bluesy feel.
Maybe this will give you some incentive to try harder at learning them.
I can try to water it down more if that is necessary. You can ignore all
the extended chords (13, 7-9, 6 etc.) and just play the basic major or
minor chord (Except for dim7 chords which really are pretty easy to play
anyway) and everything will still fit. Let me know if I've helped or
hindered.

these are mostly passing chords that are only played for a beat or two. Let me
kmow what you think about these.

I've found these type of chord diagrams to be the most succinct and complete,
but not everyone is used to them so here are some explanations about them.
Ask if anything is still unclear.

Each line is a separate fret
Numbers denote suggested fingering. Some strings have two fingers on them
in order to show a barre.
Colons (:) mean not to play the string
